چکیده

In this paper, we compare two signal designs for uplink quasi-synchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) channels in order to optimize the trade-off between bandwidth efficiency and power efficiency. The design we call band-limited DS/CDMA design, is based on the time-domain assignment of Gold sequences, just as in the ordinary DS/CDMA, but with band-constrained cyclic chip interpolation functions, which is unlike the ordinary DS/CDMA. The other design, MC/CDMA design, is based on frequency-domain assignment of the sequences, as in the ordinary MC/CDMA. In both designs, we assume insertion of guard intervals at the transmitter and frequency-domain processing in reception. Assuming quasi-synchronous arrival of CDMA signals at the CDMA base station and FFT in the effective symbol interval, the intersymbol interference is evaded in both designs. First we identified the signal parameters that optimize bandwidth efficiency in each of the band-limited DS design and MC design. Second, we clarified the signal parameters that optimize the power efficiency as functions of frequency efficiency in each of the two designs. Finally, we derived and compared the trade-off between the bandwidth efficiency and power efficiency of band-limited DS and MC designs. We found a superiority of band-limited DS design over MC design with respect to the optimized trade-off. key words: DS/CDMA, MC/CDMA, frequency-domain processing, bandwidth efficiency, power efficiency, signal design

Design of robust carrier tracking systems in high dynamic and high noise conditions, with emphasis on neuro-fuzzy controller

The robust carrier tracking is defined as the ability of a receiver to determine the phase and frequency of the input carrier signal in unusual conditions such as signal loss, input signal fading, high receiver dynamic, or other destructive effects of propagation. An implementation of tight tracking can be understood in terms of adopting a very narrow loop bandwidth that contradict with the req...

Linearization of M-LINC Systems Using GMP and Particle Swarm Optimization for Wireless Communications

In this paper, an efficient algorithm for the efficiency maximization of the multilevel linear amplification using nonlinear components (M-LINC) systems is proposed regarding the linearity of the system. In this algorithm, we use the generalized memory polynomial (GMP) to provide a behavioral model for the power amplifier (PA) and calculate the power spectral density (PSD) of the output signal ...

Closed-form Approximation for the Trade-Off between Energy Efficiency and Spectral Efficiency in the Uplink of Cellular Network

In this paper we propose a tight closed-form approximation of the Energy Efficiency vs. Spectral Efficiency (EESE) trade-off for the uplink of a cellular communication system. We model the uplink of the cellular system by considering the Wyner model with Raleigh fading. We first demonstrate the accuracy of our expression by comparing it with Monte-Carlo simulation and the EE-SE trade-off expres...

Optimal Design of Energy and Spectral Efficiency Tradeoff in One-Bit Massive MIMO Systems

This paper considers a single-cell massive multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) system equipped with a base station (BS) that uses one-bit quantization and investigates the energy efficiency (EE) and spectral efficiency (SE) trade-off. We first propose a new precoding scheme and downlink power allocation strategy that results in uplink-downlink SINR duality for one-bit MIMO systems. Taking into...

Improving Bandwidth-power Efficiency of Homogeneous Wireless Networks Using On-meet Threshold Strategy (RESEARCH NOTE)

Over two decades, a problem of location dependent has been focused for improving the communication Bandwidth-Power Efficiency of homogeneous networks. The efficiencies of communication links are weakened by the Hidden Terminal Problem.  Thus we propose a Fine – Tune Strategy for analyzing the On-Off communication region. We were observed that the proposed technique had been able to track and mo...
